The World Architecture News Awards is the world’s largest awards programme in international architecture and we are excited to submit the Airside Operations Building in the infrastructure category.  This award seeks to identify and reward ideas that bring solutions to vital infrastructure schemes that have overcome key challenges and/or has pushed the boundaries for the particular building type.

The AOB is a “first-of-its-kind” integrated operations facility which consolidates several critical YVR functions for Emergency Response, Airside Safety, and Airfield Maintenance. The project’s airside location at the heart of YVR 24 hour operation introduced unique design requirements and challenges such as extending civil services across the expanse of the airfield and major taxiways and meeting the most stringent of post-disaster structural seismic specifications on poor soil conditions.
