Francl Architecture Joins the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure

in Community, General

Sustainability has long been a foundation of our firm, and we continually broaden the scope of our services and expertise that may be extended to our clients. We are committed to staying ahead of the curve when it comes to strategies that promote well-being in our communities. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that we have joined Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) as a testament to our commitment.

ISI is the organization behind Envision, a rating system specifically designed for infrastructure projects. Envision reviews 60 criteria covering environmental, social, and economic factors of project design, construction, and operation. Projects can earn “credits” across five categories: Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Risk. Not only does Envision aid in the overall design and development of a project, but it also provides criteria on choosing the right projects to build.

Envision supports significant community and stakeholder engagement from project initiation to completion, offering ample opportunities for transparency and training. Envision also works alongside other sustainability planning and rating systems, including LEED.

At Francl Architecture, Judy Liu is our resident Envision Sustainability Professional (SP) and is helping integrate Envision standards into our practice. Through a “Learn n’ Apply” process involving small workshops, our team engages in group learning modules and discussions of particular Envision topics, and then applies concepts and ideas to other infrastructure projects.

With a firm commitment to sustainable design, our participation with ISI and Envision aims to further advance our practice, benefitting our clients and community.
