Francl Architecture and Turner Construction participate in CANstruction 2018

in Charity, Community, General

Francl Architecture is proud to support and participate in CANstruction Vancouver for 2018 alongside our team partner Turner Construction.

CANstruction Vancouver, founded in 2002, is an annual design event benefitting the Greater Vancouver Bank (GVFB). Participating teams, consisting of architects, engineers, designers, and students, are tasked with building a sculpture out of canned food, with all cans going to the food bank for distribution after the week-long event. Since it’s inception, CANstruction Vancouver has contributed over 1,300,000 cans benefitting the GVFB’s 27,000 weekly members. This is our firm’s fourth contribution to CANstruction Vancouver.

This year’s build-day took place on Saturday, November 3rd, at Lougheed Town Centre. The Francl / Turner team completed our sculpture entitled “Honey, I’m Home” in record time, using over 3000 cans of food.

We’d like to thank this years’ sponsors, the GVFB, SHAPE Properties, Save-on-Foods, and MetFine Printers, and of course our building partner Turner Construction.

Sculptures are on display until November 11 and are open to voting by the public in several categories.
