With chapters across the country, Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) is committed to the development and delivery of quality education programs, publications and services to enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the construction industry. As part of this mandate, the Vancouver Chapter of CSC hosted a Construction Fair on November 21, 2012, at the Convention Centre. This open trade show assembled local manufacturers, vendors and building experts focused on a “simple yet revealing” approach to information gathering. A speaker series over the course of the day focused on relevant industry topics including specification writing, communication, and quality assurance. Francl Architecture’s Stefan Aepli, as part of a panel presentation on ASHRAE, raised questions about necessary industry changes and the roles and responsibilities of professionals. Of particular importance to Architects and Builders are improvements to building envelopes targeting thermal bridging as well as to the measurement and verification of projected energy performance.
