Members of the Francl Architecture team attended the Vancouver Regional Construction Association annual general meeting and U40 mixer. The challenge of this year’s Popsicle Stick Build-off was to represent the Burj Al Arab—a luxury hotel in Dubai on an artificial island in the Persian Gulf. No small challenge!
The new Airside Operations Facility at Vancouver International Airport is well underway. Slated for completion in October of 2014, the project will enhance overall safety and efficiency as well as adequately serve current and future airport operations. After obtaining Planning Staff and Advisory Design Panel support for rezoning, Francl Architecture has begun design development for this mixed-use project at the northwest corner of Cambie Street and Marine Drive. The project blends high-rise, mid-rise, and commercial components with a three-storey community amenity building.
This summer, we had the pleasure and honour of hosting Sir Norman Foster as well as other members of the Foster + Partners team. Foster was in Vancouver as part of a larger tour to visit some of the firm’s recently completed projects, including Jameson House, a collaboration with Francl Architecture.

Francl Architecture was engaged to conduct rezoning and development applications for the Rogers Arena site by Aquilini. The City of Vancouver Design Panel approved the west tower, which is now under construction, and the south tower, which is in construction documentation phase.
