This new residential tower in North Vancouver provides a mix of uses and embraces the existing facilities of this prominent urban location, including a library, city hall, hospital, and a variety of commercial activities.
The presence of the City Hall and its surroundings immediate to the West is an opportunity to expand the “back of house” lane as a new front, where the architecture acknowledges City Hall and treats the lane as a less transited road instead of a service passage. The building will act as a connector to produce a new link, a redefined edge on the public space that will complete the existing environment, complete with a public art amenity and thoughtful landscape design.
The Lonsdale features market rental units atop a two-storey podium comprised of commercial and retail spaces. The residential third floor takes advantage of enlarged exterior patios in the units and a planted rooftop. The rest of the tower develops on typical floors with a shared rooftop amenity space featuring expansive indoor and outdoor spaces, including a gym, all taking advantage of the vast 360 degree views.
Francl Architecture is also completing the interior design for residential units and common amenity spaces.
