The City of Burnaby commissioned the design and development of a new Recycling Depot and Works Yard at the existing depot site on Still Creek Avenue. Phase One is the redevelopment of the existing recycling and green waste depot. Located at the entrance, this small new office building provides space for administrative and storage functions. The building provides a rest area and rain garden to engage the adjoining Central Valley Greenway and site bio-swale. An extended roof canopy offers a covered gathering space with views into the recycling depot for public education displays. The design utilizes salvaged material from a recently demolished City building, including wood trusses and heavy timber for the primary structure and roof.
