Plaza of Nations is a new waterfront neighbourhood in North East False Creek, located southeast of BC Place, between Pacific Boulevard and the Seawall. The former Expo 86 site is subdivided into 3 phases. The current phase will provide a total of 828 apartment units, with 648 market, and 180 social housing units. The development proposes a 28-storey terraced, residential building, sitting above a 5-storey commercial office and retail podium. The residential floor plates have been animated with a pattern of C-frame balcony forms, which provide identity and a sense of residential scale, to the exterior building volume.
The form of the development reflects a mountain analogy – a terraced building form, sculpted to preserve views to BC Place, while referencing the backdrop of North Shore Mountains.
