Lake City Millennium Line Transit Station

Burnaby, BC

Located in Burnaby along the Lougheed Highway corridor and completed in 2003, Lake City Station is one of three stations for the SkyTrain Millennium Line rapid transit expansion project. Design and construction administration for this project demanded sensitivity to local context, and were developed through a series of staff workshops and community meetings. The elegant finish of the basic material palette of the station—steel, glass and concrete—accentuates the station’s angular and dynamic shape, which draws inspiration from the railway and the surrounding highway context.

This project was a collaboration with Stantec Architecture and earned a 2004 Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia Award and a Canadian Architect Award of Excellence.
