Surrey Langley Skytrain

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometers from King George Station in Surrey to 203 Street in Langley City Centre along Fraser Highway.
Location
Surrey & Langley, BC
Client
Province of British Columbia
The extension includes an elevated guide-way, eight new stations, and three transit exchanges, reducing the commute from Langley City Centre to King George Station to just 22 minutes. Architectural design elements of the stations will balance system-wide recognition with neighborhood differentiation, focusing on the passenger experience at the street level.

Each station will maintain recognizable SkyTrain elements while incorporating unique touches, like different canopy shapes or the creative use of glass, steel, and public art, to enhance the passenger experience and reinforce the character of surrounding neighborhoods. Unique features such as varied plaza paving patterns, distinctive entrance canopies, and localized use of materials will express local identity and character.
The project integrates transit-oriented development (TOD) around all eight stations, promoting livable communities and safer, more convenient access for pedestrians, cyclists, and those using mobility aids. The SkyTrain extension will also feature 14 kilometers of new, fully separated bike paths and multi-use pathways, along with bike racks and enclosed bike parkades at each station.
