Home to the City’s recycling and green waste programs, the site is efficiently designed to maximize parking and storage while allowing one-way drive through stalls for safe manoeuvring of larger trucks. Public realm improvements include a soil health / composting information area and a rain garden that is irrigated naturally by rainwater collected from the recycling office roof.
The site and building design incorporates extensive use of salvaged materials, including salvaged heavy timber as the primary expressive structural elements for the recycling office. Air-source heat pumps are also integrated for the in-floor hydronic system.
