The goal is to create a strong sense of place for community gathering at one of downtown Vancouver’s last undeveloped sites and reinforce connections to the fabric of downtown through publicly accessible plazas, lookouts and terraced roofs.
A terraced skyline atop distinct podiums shapes views and daylight, while a Central Plaza, lookouts, and public paths stitch together gathering spaces from Pacific Boulevard to the water’s edge. The bowed, terraced massing references the North Shore mountains and frames civic life at Vancouver's entertainment district.
Pacific Boulevard is proposed to be redesigned as a ‘Great Street' to support removal of the Georgia Street viaduct to support more active transportation options to the District, and enhance movement connection from other False Creek neighbourhoods.
