The project integrates respectfully into the urban context through articulation of the building’s geometries by adopting height datums of the adjacent Ceperley Rounsfell heritage building, while showcasing contemporary curved geometries on the residential floors above.
The project breaks down the boundaries between living and working while balancing energy consumption between its mix of day and night-time uses. The design was shaped by Vancouver’s local climate, taking into account seasonal sun paths, prevailing winds, humidity, temperature variations, and precipitation patterns.
An automated 235-stall parking system conserves space and energy, while hydronic heating/cooling, displacement ventilation, and thermal mass strategies deliver LEED Gold-equivalent performance and award-winning urban design.
The recognition of exemplary design, densification and the heritage restoration efforts earned this project an unprecedented floor area ratio of 23.
