Canada Line Stations (Sea Island, Templeton & Sea Island Centre Stations)

As part of the YVR branch of the Canada Line, the station designs anchor airport access and allow easy transit between the airport and the city as well as for airport staff to go to and from.
Location
Richmond, BC
Client
Province of BC & TransLink (via AtkinsRealis)
Size
~2,095 SQM per station
Situated in the open fields of the Fraser River flats, Templeton Station’s design reflects themes of land, sea and sky. The overlapping curvilinear design of the roof structure recalls imagery of the layered mountain ranges on the horizon, while offering clerestory lighting and views throughout. Located along the flight path approach to the north runway with views to the distant North Shore mountains, the station offers itself as a unique platform to experience airport activity in context to the beauty of the distant landscape.
Sea Island Centre Station responds to Grant McConachie Way’s more busy street, and access to North Service Road, with creative planning required to route electrical and mechanical services. The station adds lightness within the surrounding context with a gently curved timber roof and glazed walls to reflect natural light.

Templeton and Sea Island Centre prioritize clear wayfinding, contextual sensitivity, and durable materials within an efficient rapid transit framework.
