Attentive, focused, and open-minded, Alain approaches a new project without any preconceived ideas, listening and gathering information from clients, collaborating with stakeholders, and creating a project vision that meets all expectations. He enjoys complex projects, which often requires thinking outside the box, and has worked on several community and cultural facilities, complex office and retail spaces, large master planning projects, and residential buildings. Prior to joining Francl Architecture, Alain worked with Nick Milkovich Architects Inc. and Arthur Erickson for over 20 years. During his time working with Arthur Erickson, Alain developed a strong sense of design and a sensibility to the way in which buildings interface with the surrounding landscape. Alain is an enthusiast canoeist. His wilderness canoe trips took him all the way to the arctic ocean, travelling with caribous, musk oxen, wolves and grizzlies under the midnight sun.
